Moss — by the fjord
Hotel Riviera is located in Moss, a coastal town by the Oslofjord, midway between Oslo and the Swedish border. With around 55 beaches, generous hours of sunshine and close proximity to both fjords, forests and lakes, the town has long been known as one of Norway’s classic seaside destinations.
One of the region’s most urban beaches can be found just outside the hotel. Here lies Riviera Beach, with a city beach and Tiki Bar serving refreshments throughout the summer.
Moss also has a rich history as an industrial town. Along the fjord, traces of ironworks, factories and old manor houses now stand side by side with new neighbourhoods, cultural venues and meeting places.
In 1835, Moss opened Norway’s first saltwater bathhouse, and the tradition of bathing and wellness continues to this day. At Hotel Riviera, you will find our own Pool & Wellness on the top floor, overlooking the fjord — a modern continuation of the city’s long tradition of bathing and wellbeing.
Verket Moss – a new district by the fjord
Hotel Riviera is located in Verket, an area with deep roots in Moss' industrial history. Previously, Moss Jernverk (Iron work) was located here, and today the area is being developed into a new and vibrant district.
At Verket, you will find homes, workplaces, restaurants, cultural venues and a hotel, all close to both the sea and Mossemarka, with hiking tracks and more.
The area is developing rapidly and has already become a new gathering place in the city.
From Verket, the rest of Moss is within easy reach. The train station can be reached in a few minutes, with Oslo just 40 minutes by train. The Bastø ferry takes you to Horten in half an hour, while Gothenburg is only a couple of hours away.
