Privacy Policy
We at Hotel Riviera process your personal data in different contexts, for example when you book services from us, stay at our hotels, use services we provide and in certain other contexts. In our privacy policy, you will find more information about our processing of personal data. Below you will also find contact information if you have questions or wish to request access. We process your personal data in accordance with the currently applicable Norwegian Personal Data Act, including the GDPR.
Data Controller for Your Personal Data
Our company Norwegian Hospitality Group (NHR), org. nr. 989 467 395, Strandveien 50, 1366 Lysaker, tel. +47 67 10 20 11 is the data controller for the processing of personal data in our systems for booking, invoicing, and hotel operations. We are also the data controller for our marketing and sending emails from us to our customers and contacts.
Processing of Personal Data Related to Booking and Stay
In connection with your bookings made by yourself or by others on your behalf, we process the personal data we need in order to fulfill the agreement regarding booking and the purchase of services. This includes information you have provided to us directly or that you have provided via a travel agency or agent. We process, for example, information about your identity, your contact information, and your payment information. In some cases, we will store your passport number. Additionally, we process other information you may have provided us that is relevant to your stay with us. This may include information about allergies or special requests for your stay. We register all purchases and bookings you make with us, such as spa, restaurant, room service, etc., to deliver such services and for you to be able to pay for them.
We process this information as long as necessary to fulfill the agreement regarding booking with you, and additionally as long as applicable laws or regulatory requirements require us to do so.
We log the use of key cards in our hotels. We do this to prevent and clarify criminal activities and for security reasons, including fire safety. We store the logs for 21 days.
Processing of Personal Data for Marketing Purposes
If you subscribe to our newsletters, we store and use your email address to send you news and offers from us.
We will also use your email address or phone number to send you news and offers within the rules for existing customer relationships. Our basis is marketing legislation.
We will contact you on social media with your consent or within the framework of existing customer relationships. To use social media as a communication channel, we must disclose your email address or phone number to the social media platform. Our basis for this is consent or legitimate interests.
You may withdraw any consents you have given us at any time. You can also object to receiving marketing in existing customer relationships by sending an email to booking@riviera.no.
Processing of Personal Data for Development, Troubleshooting, and Security
We will process data that includes personal data to troubleshoot and fix errors, improve our services and the technology we use, and to analyze usage and user behavior. Furthermore, we will process personal data to verify your identity, including verification of identity in connection with your use of our digital services.
We anonymize data or compile statistics as far as we can, but will also need to process personal data for development, troubleshooting, statistical, and security purposes.
Processing of Personal Data Otherwise
If you contact our customer service or otherwise approach us with inquiries, we will process personal data you provide as far as necessary to respond to and log your inquiry. The basis for this is legitimate interests or to fulfill agreements with you or respond to your inquiries.
Beyond the processing described in our privacy policy or based on your consent, we may in some cases need or be allowed to process personal data when applicable law, including the Personal Data Act and GDPR, valid regulatory orders or court orders impose or permit us to do so.
Disclosure of Personal Data and Statutory Processing
We do not disclose your personal data to third parties unless you have consented to this, or unless applicable law, including the Personal Data Act and GDPR, valid regulatory orders, or court orders allow or require us to do so.
For clarity, we inform you that our use of data processors to process information on our behalf is not considered disclosure.
Your Rights
You as a person have several rights under the personal data regulations.
You have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of the personal data we process about you. You also have the right to request limited processing, object to the processing, and request the right to data portability.

We will ask you to confirm your identity or provide further information before we allow you to exercise your rights with us. We must do this to ensure that we only provide access to your personal data to you – and not to someone impersonating you.
AI Chatbot
Hotel Riviera uses an AI chatbot to provide you with quick and easy access to information about the hotel. The chatbot collects information about your interactions, including the questions you ask and the answers given. This information is used to improve the functionality of the chatbot and to provide you with a more personalized experience. You can choose not to use the chatbot at any time.
Data Protection Officer
We are part of Strawberry. They have their own data protection officer. The data protection officer is responsible for all hotels affiliated with Strawberry, including us.
The data protection officer is our contact point for the Data Protection Authority.
Our officer provides all hotels in Strawberry, our data processors, and our staff with advice and guidance on the processing of personal data and the rules for this. The officer works to monitor our compliance with the rules for personal data and our internal policies.
Our officer can also help you uphold your rights with us, or help you get answers to questions about your personal data with us.

If you believe that our processing of personal data does not comply with what we have described here or that we otherwise violate data protection legislation, you can alternatively file a complaint with the Data Protection Authority in Norway or the supervisory authority in the country where you stay at the hotel. Hotel Riviera aims to provide our customers with the best possible hotel experience tailored to each guest's preferences and purchasing history.
We will, based on legitimate interests, use information we have received from you about your preferences for rooms (for example, "ocean view", "quiet room") and information about your purchases with us ("sparkling water" instead of "still water") to offer you a customized stay.
This information is collected based on your purchases with us and the wishes you express to our staff.
We may also occasionally gather information about you from public sources such as the internet and social media, limited to information relevant to offering you a personalized stay with us. The basis for this is legitimate interests.
The information will not be disclosed to others.
You can object to our use of your information for personalizing your stay. You can do this by sending an email to hello@riviera.no.
Changes to Privacy Policy or Processing
We are continuously working on the development and improvement of our services to our customers. This may change the way or scope of our processing of personal data. The information we provide through this privacy policy will therefore be adjusted and updated periodically. We will also change the privacy policy when new rules or authority practices make it necessary.
